MONTCALM — Heather Nicewander provided 21 points, six steals and four rebounds as the Montcalm Lady Generals won for the third time in their past four games, beating Independence 45-30 on Monday evening at the MHS gym.
Taylor Dunford scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds for Montcalm (8-3). Savanna Bailey had three assists and two steals, and Stormy Carver collected seven rebounds and blocked three shots.
Chloe Layne was the top scorer for Independence (1-8), with eight points.
Montcalm, which received votes in this week’s AP girls basketball poll, plays Friday at home against Greenbrier West.
